and dared the Revenant to come after her
It's Friday night in Parts Unknown, which means it's a great time to go grocery shopping because most of the town is here at the Arena losing their minds. Per usual, Steve Vandeblanche and Nazir el-Fadal are doing commentary (if you're new to the program, Steve's the one who reminds you of the uncle you like and Naz is the one trying to hold up G+ for his own show). Steve hyped up hearing more from the newcomer Justice Davis before he makes his debut against Razorblade Savage. He also hyped the Unified World Tag Team championships rematch that's tonight's main event before throwing things to Duck Eko in the ring so that Ruckus could begin with another title match from the women's division.
In ring action started with Cindy Monet out to a good pop to defend the Crush championship. Announce put over Cindy being undefeated since coming back earlier in the summer as Gaia Green came out to a decent response. Steve talked about how good it was to see Mean Season in QCW again as they’ve spent a lot of time in Catch Hell from the UK lately. Cindy & Gaia shook hands after the bell rang and then got underway with the fight.
Cindy got early control and it looked like it was going to be a bit of light work for the Collipark standout, but when she went for the Tightrope Gaia saw her coming and cut her off with a nice dropkick to give herself an opening to start to mount a comeback. Green started coming back with some offense on her own while the Controllers fired up some “Let’s go Cindy!” chants. Green continued the offense and looked to set Cindy up for something from the top rope only for Monet to counter out and land some blows to the back of Gaia’s head before hitting a second rope swinging neckbreaker that wiped out Gaia. Monet again went for the Tightrope, got it this time, and secured the 3. **
| • Cindy Monet [c] d. Gaia Green (w/Winter Wonderland) to retain the Crush championship 5️⃣ • |
After replays we saw both Winter and Cindy helping up a slightly rattled Gaia, the champ looking to make sure Green was okay. Winter got a little defensive and took over, Cindy had her arms up to show there wasn’t any beef from her end. Winter and the referee helped Gaia to the back, leaving the ring to a low key celebration from Cindy as Steve put over the fact she was halfway to the 10 she’d need to cash in the Crush championship for an anytime, anywhere shot at the Women’s World title.
From there it was TOTHEBACK~!, where a non teleporting Enya Face welcomed her guest - “Dark Mirror” Beckett Carpenter!
Carpenter wore a Mean Season T-Shirt and a flower crown. They did not look excited to be there, even with their favorite Pictionary partner.
“Enya, I’ve created a monster. I tried to use Summer Rose as a weapon against Autumn powers, and it has bitten me in the ass three times now. She is a generational talent, but I should have known that’s she’s a hurricane in a flower crown. Not only did she cost me two matches in the Best of 5 series, but now she has the End Times on her side. I thought I ran those two out of QCW last year, but now I've got to clean up another mess I made next week.”
A voice off screen said “You mean WE have to clean up the mess…”
"Tiki God" Al Buffett walked into frame drinking Polynesian Mystic Glog (now available in select Kwik-E-Marts near you), followed by Ashley "THEE Influencer" Szabo.
“We couldn’t stop Summer and the End Times at Cruel Summer,” Ashley sighed. “But we can nip this in the bud next week.”
Ashley looked at the camera, her no-filter-needed face twisted into a scowl.
“Summer, I NEVER liked you. And even your former besties got sick of your [madam that is a Seven Swear] and ran you out of QCW. It only makes sense that you’re hanging around with Danny Castoff and Martin Woulda Coulda Shoulda, since their besties also unfollowed them on the socials. So maybe it’s time that QCW as a whole blocks you. Next week, in Tokyo, Me, Beckett Beatdown, and The Tiki God are going to be the Mods to ban your sock puppet asses from the group.”
“It’s time for a trios match,” said Tiki. “End Times, you bring Summer into the ring with you one last time. Because when The Game Changers beat you, Summertime in QCW is over. Summer will never be allowed back in any capacity: wrestler, manager, referee, hot dog stand manager… mmm, hot dogs.”
“Stay focused, boo,” Mirror whispered, trying not to corpse..
“All of this,” Ashley interjected. “And My Sweet Summer Child, once Becks and I get our hands on you, all the filters in the world won’t keep you from looking busted.”
Carpenter’s face brightened.
“No notes,” Beckett cooed. “Maybe I should let you do the talking.”
"Eh," said Ashley. "Next week we'll be doing the winning. That's good enough for me."
Enya watched the Game Changers walk off the set together with a smile, then threw things to Duck Eko in the ring for the next match.
| • Jacques Krieger (w/S. Mark Starr) d. Super Avión (w/Crusazdo del Oro) • | As Krieger and Starr made their way to the ring, we got highlights of how One Eye's past week had gone, both giving Jupiter Jones a run for his money before losing to the living legend then beating Crusazdo del Oro a couple of nights ago on Unleashed. Oro's partner Avión took up the charge here after missing Wednesday night.
Unfortunately for the luchadores, Krieger was more than up to Avión's challenge. While it wasn't an outright squash, Krieger dominated most of the fight much to the joy of a cackling el-Fadal on commentary. Even when Avión was lucky enough to get a rally in, Jacques nipped it in the bud with his Ace in the Hole shotei and killed it for good with a Roll of the Dice. **
After replays we saw Oro trying to help Avión, followed by Krieger almost already parting the Tron while Starr bragged about getting in two fixes in two days. Steve reluctantly put over Krieger's renewed focus under Starr before hyping up another look at Justice Davis on the other side of this commercial break.
✨
After Steve teed it up, we got the second video package introducing us to newcomer Justice Davis. From an empty Arena, Davis sat in the stands and talked about really getting his start in independent wrestling in the Midwest five years ago, but since he was underage he couldn’t find anyone in the States to book him. So maaaaaybe he lied about his age and crossed the border, making his debut in Canada in 2019 before becoming legal in the States – right before the pandemic hit.
It’s possible he blacked out a lot of that year, as much as anybody normal probably has. But a couple years ago when things started opening back up, he went back out on the road. This time he was more mature, ready, focused, and willing to show the wrestling world who and what he was about. We got more footage of Davis from the past couple of years, firing up small and then bigger crowds, hitting his Davis Driver (a running Soul Crusher, essentially), bleeding sometimes, snarling occasionally, winning usually. He’s been to multiple places (Seaboard Wrestling Alliance, the Big Apple Wrestling Federation, the Midwest Wrestling Federation) and held at least one title everywhere he’s gone for years now. Davis said the unwanted time off built a desire in him to fight that’s still burning bright right now, which is why he signed on with QCW. He knows about the Baby Razorblade comments and wanted to shut them up by facing an in ring hero of his in his debut. He wants to show QCW that while he looks up to Mason Savage, he doesn’t fear him. For years Justice Davis has fought himself, the world, the pandemic, the indies, just to get to QCW to get the opportunity that he has tonight in facing a living legend and one of the best in QCW history. And when he proves he belongs tonight, that’ll be the door opening for all his future successes in QCW.
“Razorblade – tonight it’s you and me for the first time. You’re probably going to make me bleed and you might even make an example out of me, but after tonight EVERYONE will know the name of the Battle Ground Battler.”
| • Autumn Powers [c] d. Sohla Patel (w/International Lotus) to retain the GRPL+ World Television title 4️⃣ • | Autumn retained her title here in a chaotic match, especially down the stretch.
It got established pretty early on that as talented as the Bollywood Diva is, she was probably a level below the World TV titleholder on the tier list. Powers used her speed to wrestle a quicker match than usual, hitting flying forearms and springboard crossbodies, even going around the horn and up and down Sohla before dusting her off with a headscissors takeover and celebratory nip up. A fuming Patel bailed out to the floor, causing Powers to tease a dive – but Patel took advantage by legsweeping Autumn all the way from the apron to the floor and leaving her in a heap.
Sohla followed that up by running Autumn into both the stairs and the barricade before getting things back in the ring and tuning up Autumn with some open handed chops in the corner. As Patel opened up her offensive playbook on Powers, Karyn Tisch-Warren felt comfortable enough in the outcome to demand some table time to join Steve and Naz on commentary while her patron tried to secure yet another title reign for International Lotus. Sohla kept turning up the heat and looked to pull a title upset win when she went for the Ninth Incarnation, but Autumn slipped out the back and took Patel down with a rear naked choke.
That’s about when it hit Chaos O’Clock – Karyn at first was screeching on commentary, and then suddenly there was a rumbling and then Steve was screaming and freaking out because “Night Sky” Diana Spare had jumped Karyn from out of nowhere and was giving her a restaurant quality beating on and around the announce desk. Scott Warren-Tisch came over to try and break things up, so Diana grabbed her Women’s World championship and drilled him right in the teeth to send him down in a heap.
Patel managed to hook a boot under the bottom rope to break the choke, but while the referee was making Autumn break the hold she made eye contact with Diana on the floor and pulled herself up with the ropes to hit her with a wrecking ball dropkick. Unfortunately for Sohla, that left her wide open for a nasty rewind rana from Powers, who then dusted her with the Hazy Shade for another successful defense of her title. ** ½
Interesting post match as Autumn got her title back and looked over the ropes with a smile at Diana on the floor. Both women held up their titles and smiled at each other, and while their eyes narrowed their smiles at the other widened.
After that we got another stinger with rotating flashing neon, Euroclub beats in the background, and the promise that a MR. T is coming soon, which would violate several merchandising laws. We shall see where this goes in the weeks to come.
“Stranglehold” unfortunately brought out the Red, White & True, Drake Tremble leading the charge to the ring for his group. As they took over the ring to boos we got footage of the RWT’s No Good Very Bad Multiple Loss Suffering edition of Ruckus last week where they went 0-2 and Ted Holland failed to gain the GRPL+ World TV title from Autumn Powers.
“B.O.B.” brought out the College Park Family to a huge pop, and Jupiter Jones was leading the charge for them as you might expect. We got some picture in picture highlights of him beating Jacques Krieger in a barnburner last week as he paused on the stairs and looked out over the cheering Arena before getting into the ring and right into Tremble’s face, Steve putting over the fact they’ve hated each other so long that there’ve been three different Presidents since their rivalry started.
The seconds eventually got cajoled to the outside, and once the bell rang Tremble tried a sneak attack on Jones, who dodged and let Drake fling himself into the corner before laying him some hard shoulder blocks to the ribs. Jones kept up his offense and laid in heavy hands to Tremble as Steve tried to get some analysis from Naz on the fight; el-Fadal’s response was to sarcastically say unless Bane showed up to make it a triple threat he was fine, thanks. Jones kept his momentum up and even surprised the man he beat for the TV title last year by snatching him up in a moonsault fallaway slam that popped the crowd and had Steve flipping out on commentary. Jones prepared the Bolt From Olympus and had Tremble dead to rights – right before Holland pulled his mentor out of the ring to boos.
Of course, this drew the ire of the International Players as you might expect, and Bobby Bash wasted little time in having his usual partner’s back. It didn't take too much for words to turn into punches thrown, and pretty soon a Pier 4 broke out on the outside with all the men on the outside brawling up the ramp.
It was exactly the sort of thing Drake needed to sneak up on Jupiter and run him into the ring post, the Controllers unleashing a torrent of boos as Jones was splayed out on the floor. Drake being Drake, he rolled into the ring and demanded the referee count Jones out.
Jones managed to get back in the ring at 7 only to get swarmed by Tremble, who lit into him with stomps, punches and falling forearms. Tremble began scoring nearfalls and it looked like he had his eternal rival in position for a Truth Bomb, but Jones got loose and hit Tremble with a massive release German suplex that crumpled up the Voice of Freedom.
Jupiter emptied the tanks on an increasingly defenseless Tremble after that and shut the loudmouth up with a knee buckling Bolt From Olympus to secure the three count. ** 1/2
| • Jupiter Jones (w/the International Players) d. "The Voice of Freedom" Drake Tremble (w/the Red, White and True) • |
No sooner had Jones gotten his hand raised than the lights went out in the Arena – when they came back on, the Revenant was in the ring behind the Collipark leader. Jones got spun around, goozled and driven down into the mat with the Red Right Hand. The Unified World champ raised it high in the air to boos, boos that only increased when the Rev stalked a staggering Jones and planted him with a second chokeslam. The crowd began to perk back up as the International Players came back out, but Tremble acted as a roadblock for the couple seconds needed for his flunkies to come out and continue their fight against them. With the 3 on 2 happening on the floor the Rev wasted little time in snatching up Jones and planting him with a third chokeslam. The crowd booed and the Rev gave them a double bird (blurred out on G+) before delivering a fourth chokeslam to Jones.
The Rev demanded the mic from Duck and got it in short order. Once he got it, he only had one thing to say:
“There’s only ONE Mr. QCW – and that’s the Big Bad.”
The Rev threw the mic up and cackled as “Red Right Hand” came on over the PA, with Collipark decimated in and around the ring and the Rev mockingly tipping his black cowboy hat towards the devastation as he strode to the back. The medical staff came out as Steve threw to a commercial break, still heated about the Unified World Champion’s sudden appearance and sneak attack as hour 1 wrapped up.
✨
We returned to Ruckus by unexpectedly running into Julius Duquesne III in the parking lot. At least we didn't have to wait long before he flagged down Jacques Krieger and S. Mark Starr. Krieger got into a Town Car as Starr said he was more than willing to talk in lieu of his employer, especially after two dominant wins in as many days. Jupiter Jones got lucky last week by so very little, but the time to fight him and beat him will come and come soon. The Reggie Strongs of the world wish they could do what they're doing - fixing QCW one beatdown at a time, and it was only a matter of time before one of those beatdowns delivered the World TV title right into his…his client's arms once again. Starr informed JD3 it was his pleasure before jumping in the Town Car and leaving the Arena with Krieger in tow. JD3 watched them leave and then threw things to Enya Face…
...who was backstage at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the Sweet Spot, ready to welcome her guest: Mason “Razorblade” Savage. The former Unified World champion got the pop of the night as he came on screen before Enya asked him what his mindset was going into his match next with the newest QCW signee in Justice Davis.
Razorblade said he’d seen the pieces about Davis, and it was an inspiring story to be sure. The fact Davis saw him and it made him want to become a wrestler was an honor, and the kid had clearly been putting in the work. But this was QCW, and even though he might not have his old title he still considered it his house. After letting the pop from that die down, Savage said he was sure Davis was going to have a good, hell, maybe even a great career in QCW. But it wasn’t going to start off the way he wanted it to, because he was going face to face with the Razorblade. The same man who spent most of last summer a double champion, the reason the belts got unified just a few short months ago. He may not have the belt, but he’s still the gold standard in QCW, and Justice is going to learn the difference between being behind the rail for a Razorblade match and trying to survive one in the ring with him.
“Unscripted Violence” came on over the PA and out came Savage from the Tron, bathing in the reception from the Quality Controllers with a small smile on his face. Savage coming to the ring gave Steve time to note that he was on the outside looking in after losing the Last Stand match at Cruel Summer, and that everyone was wondering what was going to be the next move in his career.
Some generic rock music followed and brought out Justice Davis to a nice pop from the Quality Controllers. Davis went to both ends of the ramp to take in the sold out Arena before marching down to ringside himself, slapping a couple of hands as he went down but keeping his focus on the multiple time former World champion in the ring.
After the bell rang, Davis offered a handshake to Savage, who thought about it for a couple of beats before accepting. Naz upbraided the newbie on commentary for his sportsmanship but was proven wrong in short order – Davis and Savage fought to a standstill in the opening few minutes, both able to run through the other with a hard shoulder block when they had enough momentum off of the ropes but both also exchanged (and blocked) armdrags in this part, giving the faithful something to clap for. Razorblade offered another handshake but turned it into an irish whip; the rope running sequence saw him land too soon off of a leapfrog and Davis take the upper hand by planting an uppercut right across Savage’s jaw.
Davis then continued to up the offense, much to the surprise of the crowd and announce. Even when Savage started to fight back, Davis had answers – stopping Razorblade cold with a back elbow at one point before dropping him with a short arm lariat that got him his first nearfall of the fight. The newcomer popped more than a few cameraphones when later in the match he followed Razorblade into the ropes and took advantage of his craftiness to hit a rebound spear, leaving Savage to kick out at 2 ¾.
Justice continued to reign in the Arena, and it looked like he was going for his familiar-looking Davis Driver when Mason managed to counter out of it into a sloppy but still impactful Code Red that bought him some time. Davis tried to bring the fight after that, but Savage had gotten a second wind and not only was blocking his punch attempts but connecting on his own. The Razorblade comeback continued apace, including Savage getting a little bit of revenge when he used Davis’ earlier ploy against him before cutting down the debuting JD with a rebound into a discus lariat that caught Davis under the jaw.
It was all Razorblade after he rocked Davis and the ring with that, Savage turning up the intensity as he showed off his skillset. Eventually, the part we all knew was coming happened, and Razorblade flew off the top with the Soul Crusher to end it.
But he didn’t, because Davis kicked out at 2.9.
That got a healthy buzz going in the Arena, and while Razorblade didn’t question the count with his mouth you could see it in his eyes. Replays went up and confirmed that Davis kicked out – hell, in real time he was delivering punches to Razorblade’s breadbasket, only to get cut off by a short range knee that sent him tumbling back down to the canvas.
Savage turned up the intensity and continued to beat on Davis, getting a couple more near falls. Davis tried to German suplex Razorblade, but Savage not only landed on his feet but cinched Davis up into a German of his own, and kept his hands locked to chain a trio of them together. Razorblade called for the end to a big pop, set Davis up, and Crushed his Soul a second time. Steve mentioned it looked like a car crash as both men splattered against the mat, Davis seemingly out and Savage not doing too much better himself. Razorblade recovered first and crawled over to Davis…who immediately rolled onto his side to avoid getting pinned. Savage tried to grab him and power him over, but Justice rolled all the way onto his belly to keep himself alive, drawing big cheers in the process.
Savage eventually pulled himself to his feet and then rained hell on Davis, punting him in the ribs a few times before hitting some diving knees into the back. Savage eventually got Davis up, only to whip him into the ropes and catch him coming off with a Trayloresque spinning slam. Razorblade let out a roar after that, then pointed to the corner to a big pop from the Controllers. Savage set Davis up on the top rope, but when he went up to follow Davis suddenly caught him with a headbutt, and then a right. Both men exchanged hands on the top rope before Savage kicked Davis’ knee and made him crotch himself on the top rope. Razorblade held onto the ropes, maintained his positioning on the middle one, and then climbed up top and gave Davis a third Soul Crusher.
This time the Battle Ground Battler didn’t have a miracle in him. 3. *** 1/2
| • Mason "Razorblade" Savage d. Justice Davis • |
Replays went off of Davis’ impressive if losing debut, it taking a third Soul Crusher to pin him down to the mat. We went back to real time where the referee was talking to Razorblade, who seemed to be calming the zebra down before he went over to Davis and extended his hand yet again.
Justice looked at him and wiped some of the sweat off of his eyebrows before wiping it on his trunks and accepting it, the Arena popping big as Razorblade pulled him to his feet so he could look at him eye to eye and shake his hand. Savage pulled him in and whispered something to him for a few seconds (didn’t pick it up on the broadcast) before suddenly pivoting to his side and raising his hand, the crowd cheering big and Steve joining in as Davis looked a little sheepish. Razorblade rolled out of the ring and gave a few claps before heading to the back – and in the middle of the ring Justice Davis got a huge pop from the Quality Controllers and the opportunity to bathe in some “JUST ICE DA VIS! Clap clap clapclap clap” chants. Davis forced a lump down his throat before lifting a fist high in the air, waving at the Controllers and waving off the ref so he could leave under his own power, even if he was walking gingerly. Steve put over the newcomer’s efforts before teeing up the last commercial break of the evening.
✨
Before we got to the main event, Naz hyped up a couple of matches to come on next Wednesday's Unleashed, both spinning off from events that happened earlier in the show:
🖥️ The International Players will face off against the underlings of the Red, White and True 🖥️
🖥️ And in a champion vs. champion match, the GRPL+ World TV title will be on the line when Autumn Powers defends against the Women's World Champion, "Night Sky" Diana Spare 🖥️
Steve got a Snowpiercer length hype train together for next Friday's show. Next week’s show is not only a limited commercial interruptions episode of Ruckus, it’s supersized for QCW’s first trip to Japan - live at Budokhan! Vandeblanche talked about how we were essentially getting a PPV on TV next Friday and even ran down the loaded card which will feature the following:
✨ the reunited Game Changers will take on the End Times & Summer Rose; Rose is banned forever from QCW if her side loses but can get her managerial license if her side wins ✨
✨ After what went down earlier in the show, Cindy Monet will be defending the Crush championship against Winter Wonderland ✨
✨ The Ambassadors Trios championships will be on the line when the Proper Villains and Katsuji Ootsuka face off against Beauty & the Beast Mode and a partner of their choosing - can Prince & Proper keep the longest Ambassadors title reign alive? ✨
✨ Autumn Powers puts the GRPL+ World TV title on the line against Serge Batroc regardless of what happens in the main event, meaning Batroc might be a double champion by the time the show goes off the air next week ✨
✨ The rematch is here for a rivalry that’s been happening most of 2023, “Night Sky” Diana Spare goes up against the woman she took the Women’s World Championship off of at Cruel Summer, Karyn Tisch-Warren in a title rematch that’ll determine who holds the power in the women’s division ✨
✨ And you want to talk main events, we got a decent one for you: the Revenant defending the 15 Pounds of Gold against Mr. QCW himself, Jupiter Jones. Will the Big Bad continue his reign of terror or can Jupiter return to his second home of Japan and capture the Unified World Heavyweight championship to add to his overstuffed trophy case? ✨
Add to that the reveal of where AnIIIversary is going to take place from and next week’s show looks like a can’t miss, especially with five different title matches. The only major titles that won’t be up for grabs are the Unified World Tag Team titles, and that’s because they’re getting the spotlight right now in…
| | • the main event • | |
"We Made It" brought out the Wonderful Ward Brothers to a good pop from the crowd, looking focused in their usual red on white. Jason and Rich didn't slap any hands on their way to the ring or pose in it once they were in it but they did talk quietly between themselves before exchanging a double fist bump and getting limber with some help from the ropes.
When the creepy whistling of "Engel" kicked in the crowd unleashed a torrent of boos down on the defending Unified World Tag Team champions, but as usual neither Serge Batroc or Pyotr Caviar cared about the noise - their newly won titles were speaking quite loudly for them.
They killed the lights in the Arena and brought a spotlight down over Duck to make the introductions but he couldn’t even get through them before a Pier 4 broke out; Eko ended up scrambling from the ring and the lights went back to full power while the former stablemates brawled in the middle of the ring. Jason the Great got the upper hand by raking Serge in the eyes, and then he helped his brother by adding some thigh kicks of his own to Pyotr before a Ward double clothesline sent the Tracksuit Tsar spilling to the outside.
With Caviar cleared from the ring the ex champs started to go after Serge much to the delight of the crowd. Jason and Rich cut off the ring on Serge and employed some quick tags and double team maneuvers (a double snap suplex, double Canadian legsweep as Naz called it on commentary) to keep Batroc down and get them back to their old belts. The Wards both got in nearfalls on the French Assassin, and after hitting him with a double superplex Rich Ward got to his feet first and waited on Serge to find his footing so he could plant him for good. Batroc got to his feet with a dazed look in his eyes and Rich spun him around for the Wonder Cuttter, but Batroc had enough left to counter and push Ward off. Even worse for Rich, the pushoff sent him towards the champs’ side of the ring, and Caviar low bridged the top rope so that Ward went careening over the side before going splut on the floor. Batroc staggered over to tag in the big Russian, who continued to pay dividends as he got a running start down the apron and splashed Rich on the floor to the oohs and winces of the Controllers.
We got replays of Caviar almost turning Rich from a solid into a vapor with the splash, and it took Ward until the referee’s count got to 8 before he could even get into the ring. The next few minutes sucked royally for Rich as Caviar powered him around the ring, Steve echoing some online views that the champs should really be called Team Caviar since their successes usually came from Pyotr’s power. Rich found himself in the deep waters in short order, and even with Jason making a save for him (and summarily getting tossed by Caviar) it looked like the champs were going to wrap things up in pretty short order. A smirking Serge gave the order to end it, and Caviar took Ward up and over with a snap powerslam before cinching him up in a giant swing. Pyotr spun around the ring and looked to Hit His Music, but when he went for the spinebuster Rich kicked his legs free and then suddenly drove Pyotr into the canvas with the Wonder Cutter.
The crowd popped to life when that happened, and got further amped by Jason on the outside beating the top turnbuckle like a bongo trying to get his brother over to him. But Pyotr managed to tag in Serge, who immediately got in the ring and ankle picked Rich to keep him mid-ring. Ward struggled to get free but then managed to kick Serge off of him and towards the heel corner. Caviar came in the ring and charged Jason on the outside, but the Great low bridged him out to the floor, got the tag, and started lighting up Serge like summer fireworks.
Jason used his speed to hit and run Batroc all over the ring, including using an Irish whip towards a corner to run up the buckles before flying off with a Meteora to drive last year’s Duquesne Cup winner into the mat. Jason pumped the fans up a little more (getting a TRL pop in the process) then called for the Wonder Cutter.
Batroc got to his feet, Jason hooked him up - and Serge pushed him off right into a running crossbody from Caviar.
Rich Ward got in the ring after that happened, and another Pier 4 broke out. Unfortunately for the Canadians, it was not one that they were going to win.
After the brawling went to the bigger champs, Serge further upped his odds of retaining the titles by chop blocking Rich, who then almost got decapitated by a Russian sickle. Jason fought 2 on 1 after that, landing some shots, but Team Batroc eventually quelled his rally when Serge backdropped him into a spinning sitout powerbomb from Pyotr. Caviar probably didn’t need to deliver another sickle into Serge’s Arc de Triomphe, but it was that signature double team that won them the belts at Cruel Summer and gave them the retention here. ***
| • Team Batroc [c] d. The Wonderful Ward Brothers to retain the Unified World Tag Team championships • |
The crowd deflated as Engel came back on over the PA, Steve putting over the game effort of the Wards while giving Team Batroc credit for their first win over them. With the Wards splattered in the ring, the champs accepted the belts and stood over the bodies of their former stablemates, Serge sneering and Pyotr looking blankly at the hard camera before both men raised their belts overhead to boos. As they shook hands, Steve got in one last plug for the supersized limited commercial interruption episode of Ruckus next week before the credits box flashed and we faded to black.
