GRPL+ Presents QCW Ruckus [s3e9 • January 26, 2023]

Quality Arena | Parts Unknown, FL

Aired live on GRPL+ | January 26, 2024

Roll the open and let's hit up Parts Unknown to see how much Ruckus brings to you this Friday night.  Steve Vandeblanche and Carl Christensen hyped a big episode that would see Serge Batroc and Razorblade go one ion one as well as Karyn Tisch-Warren’s semi open challenge for the Women's World championship in the main event, but tonight would kick off with the first title match of the evening…

1.. “La Flor” Luz Cruz [c] v. Shelley LaVey for the Crush championship

Both women started off hot, running a pretty crisp rope running sequence before trading off on a series of rollips then throwing dropkicks at the same time.  More rope running occured, only this time it was cut off when Luz ducked her head too soon and Shelley spiked her into the canvas with a Rocker Dropper.

In the middle part of the time limit LaVey narrowly stayed a step ahead of the champion; even when Cruz put together some offense and knocked Shelley to the floor, LaVey cut off a tope attempt with a crackling right hand before delivering a neckbreaker between the ropes.  Shelley encouraged Luz to get up before drilling her with a Fresh To Death, and then she went to win the title with her Fallen Angel flying splash.

As she flew off, Luz rolled towards that corner and there was no water in the pool for Shelley.  LaVey had barely been on the canvas a moment before Cruz came crashing down with her signature triple jump moonsault, and that got La Flor another hard fought title defense.

After replays Cruz was at the announce table, telling Steve that she had a short and sweet message for Karyn Tisch-Warren:  once she completed her Road to 10, Karyn would be seeing her.  Hell, with some time to rest and the semi open challenge headlining tonight?  Maybe she’d see Karyn sooner than she thought.  Luz then handed Steve back his headphones and headed to the back, slapping the hands of some front row Quality Controllers on her way to the back.

2. The End Times (w/Summer Rose) v. The Wonderful Ward Brothers

So this was pretty nuts.

The End Times made their usual entrance through the concourse with their THE END IS NIGH signs; what turned out to be unusual was the fact that the Wonderful Ward Brothers jumped them on their way to the ring causing a Pier 4 in row eight while Steve caught Carl up on the long time rivalry between these teams over the past few months.

The Wards used their surprise attack to their advantage, really going to town on Danny Castle and Dr. Martin Williams despite Summer Rose’s exhortations from the outside.  The Wards showed off a more aggressive side to themselves, something that Steve noted on commentary, but they didn't let it overwhelm them and were ready to button up the match when they hit the Cutting Express on Dr. Williams.

A frustrated Summer snuck Dr. Williams’ foot under the ropes and called the referee”s attention to it.  When the referee stopped the count, it seemed like something in the Wards just snapped.

The match totally broke down from there and it wasn't too long before the referee called for the bell and threw out the match.

The End Times and the Wonderful Ward Brothers fought to a non contest at 9:26

The Wards continued getting their pound of flesh from the End Times, laying out both Castle and Dr. Williams with the Cutting Express.  When Summer tried to stick up for her not-a-cultists?

The Wards laid her out with the Cutting Express, too, to a massive if mixed reaction.  Ruckus went to break with the Wards headed to the back with steely eyed determination on their faces having finally gotten one over on the End Times.

When the break ended, a highlight reel of Nazir el-Fadal in QCW’s modern era played after that chaos was over.  He won the first match - the Worldwide Leader tournament - beating Jupiter Jones for his first QCW title - elevating and winning titles from around the globe to make it the QCW World title - winning the TV title and becoming the first one to notch 10 wins - winning the World Tag Team titles with Super Avión to become a double champion alongside his World title - and then the footage sort of dissolved into a close up on Naz himself.

For a few seconds it was just Naz glaring at the screen before saying that Autumn was a good champion, but he was a great champion, and if she had the ovaries to face him one on one at Golden Rule he was going to prove that she's the Final Woman, but up against QCW’s Final Boss?

el-Fadal let out a booming cackle before getting his breathing leveled out and said that Autumn would go to Jihad Finishing School and when she failed?  Well, the 15 Pounds of Gold would be his.  A gold onyx flashed on the screen before we went back to the Arena, the ring, and a televised murder.

3. Omar Littlefield [c] v. Il Postino for the GRPL+ World Television championship

Did you know Il Postino is Spanish for cannon fodder?  Corner splash, 3 Vader Bombs, Face Eraser, fin.

Omar Littlefield beat Il Postino in :29 GRPL+ World Television championship

They replayed the whole match.  That's what it was like.

Enya Face was in the back and brought out “the Fury” Jim Jaspers, who appeared to have been stewing in his juices all week.  Jim, getting bleeped out constantly, got two major points across:

1)  Richard Windsor wasn't at 100% after last week but he’d be back soon

2)  After what he did in costing them the Ambassadors Trios championships and hurting Richard last week, Jaspers wanted Ootsuka's head on a platter and to face him next week so he could get some revenge for Richard, but mostly for himself

Actually three things:

3) If Ootsuka didn't show up to fight him next week, Jaspers would find him and make sure he ended up in the hospital much, much longer than Windsor’s overnight stay

Jaspers stormed off the set, leaving a wide eyed Face to throw things back to Duck in the ring for the next match on the show…

4. Evan O'Neill & “Upper Class” Broderick Palmer II v. Crusazdo del Oro & Super Avión

A tale of two tag teams, even if they are starting to more closely resemble passing ships in the night due to the losing streak of the luchadors and the unlikely duo of the black hats starting to find their footing as a tag team.

QCW Rewind helped remind us that last week BP2 helped O’Neill and Team Batroc best Mr. Teknik and Savage Justice.  This week in tag action they put another notch in their tag belt in a showcase, taking advantage of Crusazdo accidentally hitting Avión with a springboard enzuigiri to give them an advantage that they wouldn't give up.  They ended things after a Palmer powerbomb/O’Neill senton elbow drop polished off Avión.

The heels celebrated on their way to the back while Avión blew off Crusazdo 's attempts to help him up, opting to roll out of the ring before heading to the back through the concourse.

5. Serge Batroc (w Pyotr Caviar) v. Mason “Razorblade” Savage (w/Justice Davis)

As Serge came down to the ring to “Engel”, QCW Rewind went back two weeks to show Pyotr Caviar eventually beating Justice Davis - this match closes the circle.

This started off with a brawl, as Serge and Razorblade have never not hated each other's guys.  Unfortunately for Serge, like most of QCW was going to lose to Razorblade in a fight.  Savage had the Arena rocking just as much as he did Batroc, leaving his mark by eventually snuffing out a Serge rally with a spinebuster that lead to a nesrfall of Batroc getting his hand on the ropes at 2 ¾.  Serge ended up out of the ring after that, while Razorblade was barking at him from the ring.

Serge ended up whispering something to Pyotr before getting back into the ring, but it only took a couple of minutes for Razorblade to once again sent Serge out of the ring with a clothesline.  Savage went to follow up, but Caviar acted as a human shield between Serge and Razorblade.  Justice came around to get in Pyotr's face despite the size difference, but the Caviar/Davis faceoff allowed Serge the opportunity to trip Savage into the apron.  Batroc grabbed Razorblade and put him over his shoulders before delivering a rolling fireman's carry slam into the floor.  While it clearly hurt Serge, he was the first man up and further out things on his side of the ledger by tossing Razorblade into the steps before rolling into the ring and telling the ref to count Savage out.

Razorblade got in the ring at 7 and Serge swarmed him with stomps for a bit before starting to diversify his offense with suplexes and European uppercuts.  Batroc began to get near falls, the longest coming after slipping a suplex or brainbuster attempt and pulled Savage into an elevated reverse DDT; Razorblade barely shouldered up at 2.9.

Serge argued the count q bit but who really got their nose out of joint about it was Caviar, who actually it in the ring and argued the point with the referee.  Steve was explaining to Carl (and some of the viewers) that as long as Pyotr didn't physically touch the ref he wouldn't get DQed, but he was certainly flirting with the borderline.   That was the last thing we saw before Justice came flying in out of nowhere, sending he and Pyotr over the top rope and to the floor.

Caviar and Davis renewed hostilities on the floor while the ref yelled at them to knock it off and Carl got the fear of God put into him just by being a few steps away from Pyotr.

With Caviar trying to bench press Justice into the crowd only to eat a rear naked choke from Justice, Serge spotted the tag team belt Davis left behind and tried to make history repeat itself by swinging on Razorblade…but Savage kicked it away and then was hopping around on one foot due to having kicked the belt.

The French Assassin staggered forward towards Razorblade on his knees before giving him a low blow and pulling him into a small package; the referee, having missed the shadiness involved, surprised everyone by hitting a 3 count that gave Serge a shocking victory.

Serge Batroc d. Mason “Razorblade” Savage at 16:07

Announce after replays how Team Batroc was cheating to win for the first time ever since losing the Unified Tag belts and now it had worked three straight times ahead of their titles rematch.

From there we were TOTHEBACK ~! where Julius Duquesne III brought on his guests - the Wonderful Ward Brothers.  The crowd gave them a good response but surprisingly Rich was the Ward who took point on the promo; he said that when the End Times threw them off the stage months ago they started something that wasn't going to end until the Wards delivered the Armageddon they wanted so much. The Wards remembered getting screwed out of the UCC as well by the Times, losing the weapons match at the PPV to them, but the losing was going to end.  They were going to take care of and take out the Times, and then they were going to regain the Unified World Tag Team championships.

We went to the announce from there, who told us that there was an update on the Black Friday fire at Quality Arena.  QCW, working with PUPD, now suspect arson instead of a fire and have suspicions for a person seen walking away from the Arena around the time of the fire in a wide brimmed black hat.  They promised updates on the situation as events warranted.

After commercials, Steve & Carl hyped up next week's Ruckus, which will feature Luz Cruz defending the Crush championship, Omar Littlefield defending the World TV title, and as a result of the past couple of shows “the Fury” Jim Jaspers will be going up against his former partner Prince Ootsuka

6. Karyn Tisch-Warren’s semi open challenge for the Women's World championship

Karyn came out first as is the champion’s prerogative to re-establish the stakes: her putting up the Women's World championship against anyone who wasn't Cindy Monet after she beat her in the best of 3 falls match in the lead up to XXV.

Karyn waved on her mystery opponent – and then Cardi B hit the system and her jaw dropped.

Because who answered the challenge wasn't just a former two-time women's champion, but her ex-partner she had stabbed in the back to throw her lot in with International Lotus and cofound it.  Not to mention that said backstabbing had led to Karyn’s first title reign and came as a result of an open challenge.

So you can understand that the roof came off of the Arena when the Quality Controllers welcomed back Lolo Vuitton.

Duck announced her to a monster ovation, but Lolo was already sprinting down to ringside.  Karyn bailed from the ring and tried to flee into the concourse but Lolo caught her in the second row and beat her like a rented goalie.  The bell rang but it took Lolo a couple beats to seemingly remember she was in a match before she tossed Karyn over the barrier back to ringside.  Scott Warren-Tisch walked up to complain and Lolo dropped him with a kick; Sohla Patel followed Scott’s example and got Karyn thrown at her for her trouble.  Lolo pulled Karyn off by the hair and started dragging her up the stairs – but Karyn swept the leg and delivered a pendulum backbreaker into the middle part of the steps.

YEEOUCH.

Karyn stepped over Lolo before flopping between the middle and top rope and demanded the referee count Vuitton out.  Replays fired of Karyn turning Lolo into Homer and the steps into a fire hydrant with her backbreaker.  Lolo dove between the ropes at 9 before grabbing at her back and wincing.

Karyn got to her feet first and hit a running senton into Lolo’s back, and then she really started working over the L4, L5 and the rest.  The Notorious KTW kept on Lolo’s designer heels in close quarters and repeatedly shut down Lolo’s windows of opportunity with timely back breakers.  The last one was a picture perfect Spare Me that sent Vuitton flying halfway across the ring, and Karyn called for the end.

But when Karyn tried to lock down the Circuit Breaker Lolo started upkicking the champ,, and then a timely trip sent Karyn flying into the ring post shoulder first.  Vuitton got up walking gingerly, right until she snatched Karyn up and threw her right back into the ring post shoulder first.

There's where she comeback began, even if Lolo was moving gingerly through the moves she was posting together.  She also turned defense into offense at the last moment by back dropping Karyn over the top rope at one point and having Karyn's face bounce off the top step on her way down.  Lolo moved as quick as she could to bundle KTW up and get her in the ring.  Sohla tried to pull Karyn out of the ring, but Lolo flew into Sohla with a wrecking ball dropkick to take Patel out of the frame.

Lolo absolutely drilled Karyn with a roundhouse kick that sent the champ flying into the corner.  The crowd got loud and you could see a gleam in Lolo's eyes as she pointed at Karyn and pulled a trigger before she limped/ran around the horn and connected with her signature Bloody Shoe for the first time in months.

Lolo made a cover, the ref made the count – and Sohla dove onto Lolo to save Karyn's title and piss off all decent people.

Karyn Tisch-Warren beat Lolo Vuitton by disqualification in 16:19 tp retain the Women's World championship

Sohla stomped away at Lolo while the announce had the reaction to International Lotus that you might expect.  Sohla helped Karyn to her feet and then they both stomped away at Lolo before Karyn bossed Sohla around a bit.  Sohla nodded and ended up ringside, reaching past Duck to grab a steel chair.

Sohla slid the chair into the ring before following it in.  Patel grabbed it & swung for the fences – but Lolo matadored away and Sohla clobbered Karyn instead to the joy of the Controllers.  Sohla was in horrified shock over laying out her BFF, and then injury got added to insult when she turned around and ate a Bloody Show that sent the chair recoiling into her face.  The roar in the Arena came across great as Lolo made sure to smack talk both members of International Lotus while beating her chest.

The credit box came up as Lolo took the Women's World championship and dropped it on Karyn before posing on the turnbuckles and pointing behind her at the laid out Lotus to end Ruckus; the announce wondered what was going to be up next with Lolo Vuitton back in the women's division with eyes on her old belt.
