We got the Invincible open to the show, now with a full Cavalcade of Champions (Caviar + Malice • Nancy Crowley • Autumn Powers) to close it out. From there, we zoomed inside Quality Arena where another loud and proud crowd welcomed us to Ruckus before Steve Vandeblanche and Carl Christensen did so officially. They hyped up Serge Batroc vs. Razorblade on tonight's program as well as Nancy Crowley defending the National championship for the first time against ex-friend Shelley LaVey before action kicked off with the debut of the newest addition to the QCW roster…
1. Claudia Watson d. Bettie Rokker (w/”Shieldmaiden” Val Curry) at 4:29 Watson, “the Girl Next Door” who emigrated over from the Fed’s developmental system got her QCW tenure off to a successful start by bouncing Bettie all around the ring. Watson showed off some impressive power, most notably when she held Rokker up for nearly half a minute before dumping her with a vertical suplex. A face lock into a snap facebuster to the knee she calls Marie Antoinette got her a showcase victory.
But no sooner had Claudia gotten her hand raised then she got jumped by a figure all in black. Watson got pummelled with hammer shots across her back before the interloper cinched her up and drove her into a corner with a buckle bomb. Things only got worse for the newcomer when she ate a familiar looking around the horn Yakuza kick that left her slumped and barely conscious in the corner. Suspicions turned into confirmation when the mystery figure ripped off their mask and revealed Lolo Vuitton, clearly finished with her stint on the injured list. After putting the bad mouth on the groggy Watson, Vuitton took a bow and rolled out of the ring, leaving shocked and/or booing Quality Controllers in her wake.
We got a sizzle reel of Nazir el-Fadal voiced over by the One Man Jihad himself. As highlights from his Cruel Summer win in the triple threat over Razorblade and Vengeance Davis rolled, Naz said that over the years he'd been called so many names and given himself so many nicknames that he’d lost count - but one thing the One Man Jihad did was live up to his promises, and he’d done that at Cruel Summer when he’d won that bootleg handicap match and beaten Razorblade again. So as far as he was concerned, that made him the #1 contender to his World championship, just in time for his favorite time of the year: Anniversary season.
In fact, he was going to add another nickname right now because Mr. Anniversary made it the biggest event of the year every year: saving the company from Ig last year, winning the World title off Razorblade and then tossing it skyward when the rabble didn't give him his flowers, or…or even running Autumn Powers what should have been out of town and into a mask. But what he had lined up for her was a few weeks in the offing, and he didn't want to wait this long to get his hands dirty again, so he proposed an open challenge next week, same Ruckus time, same Ruckus channel. He was sure someone disagreed with him naming himself #1 contender and would want to fight about it, and he wanted to show off a bit for his rabble. But whoever answered his challenge would be reminded just like Razorblade was and Autumn was about to be that this long, hot Jihad Summer would only end one way - with The Greatest Man Alive walking out of Anniversary once again World champion.
2. Glam Squad d. The All Starr Stable (w/S. Mark Starr) at 7:22 The Fall of the House of Starr continued here as they dropped another match to the unlikely trio of John Arneson, Cole Grant and Freddie Valsada. Once known for their cohesiveness as a unit, they made several mistakes and repeatedly accidentally took each other out in their pursuit of double teams - and against ascendant pros like the Glammers, they paid for those mistakes in spades. By the end you could almost hear “Yakety Sax” in the background, an end that came after Too Damn Glam and Valsada pinning Evan O’Neill. The Squad celebrated their victory up the ramp and to the back, leaving Starr to verbally tear into his charges for ten or fifteen seconds before slapping them all repeatedly (O’Neill getting the worst of it for obvious reasons) and storming up the ramp. O’Neill, Broderick Palmer II & Prince Ootsuka argued amongst themselves in the ring for a bit before realizing their manager was getting away and went up the ramp to try and catch up to the former World champion.
Backstage, we saw Shelley LaVey doing box jumps with a production crate while Luz Cruz and “Night Sky” Diana Spare gave her encouragement during her pre match workout. A chyron popped up hyping Shelley going after Nancy Crowley and the National championship later in the show as we went into the first commercial break of the evening.
We returned from the break straight into an interview Julius Duquesne III had with “Cambodian Cool” Keo Tevi. Keo sheepishly admitted Hysteria had gotten them twice last week, but all stealing the National championship had done for Nancy Crowley was to put a bullseye square on her witchy back. In fact, she wouldn't be surprised if Shelley LaVey wasn't about to stop her title reign before it got started, but either way she had Nancy in the scope. You couldn't do the things Hysteria did and expect Keo to be cool about it. She thanked Jules for his time and headed off - we went to the ring for tonight's title defense.
3. Nancy Crowley [c, w/Hysteria] d. Shelley LaVey (w/Forbidden Book Club} to retain the National championship at 10:27 1️⃣ The latest chapter in the Forbidden Book Club v. Hysteria feud culminated in Crowley pulling out a narrow victory to retain the title they got at Cruel Summer with some help from their friends. This time the former friends and longtime rivals went head on with their groups on the outside, turning this into a bootleg lumberjill match. Crowley and LaVey brawled early, a fight that the champ would win before laying Shelley out with Devil’s Wings to get the first nearfall of the match and secure the upper hand. At the desk, Carl wondered if it was smart for Shelley to try and outbrawl Nancy while the Feral titleholder stomped away at the fallen Shelley. Crowley continued to bring her narrowly controlled chaos to bear on the Goddess of Love - at least until she went for a Code Black that Shelley shook free from before catching Nancy right across the jaw with a springboard enzuigiri.
LaVey gave back as good as she got and then some, blasting Nancy with some hard forearm shots before really working her over and getting nearfalls off of a surprise Pele kick and a second springboard enzuigiri. At one point it looked like Bonnie Agrippa was going to get involved and save the Natty, but both Luz Cruz and “Night Sky” Diana Spare getting up on the apron killed that idea in the crib. Right after Duck Eko announced we were halfway through the 20 minute time limit, Shelley hit her biggest move of the match and laid Crowley out with her Heartbreaker draping cutter. LaVey let out a war cry and went to the top rope but before she could leap off for her Fallen Angel splash Crowley dove into the ropes to cause Shelley to crash land into the ring. Crowley quickly hit a Bonniesque brainbuster that Shelley kicked out of, but the follow up from Crowley was a successful Code Black followed up by Bite Me that gave Hysteria's right hand woman the win and a successful title defense. Nancy made sure to taunt Shelley with the belt afterwards, which seemed like the precursor to a Club/Hysteria brawl. But Bonnie snapped her fingers and the lights went off, and as you might have guessed Hysteria was nowhere to be seen when they came back on.
From there, we went to Steve at the desk who set up a highlight package of the Republic running wild to open the show last week - not just content to have Vengeance Davis win the opening contest over Kam Ellis, they laid out the entirety of Sky’s the Limit and Pyotr Caviar took out a referee with a Russian sickle when they tried to intervene. Steve’s voiceover revealed the punishment for those actions: Commissioner Holmes suspending the faction for tonight's show and possibly beyond (Steve was quick to add Ig de Catur’s legal team was already on the attack against the Commissioner). More Ruckus to come after the break.
4. Mason “Razorblade” Savage d. Serge Batroc (w/”the Proper Villain” Richard Windsor) at 10:59 After what happened at Cruel Summer, you knew that Savage was itching to go back to his winning ways. But Serge weaponized Razorblade’s anger against him, uncharacteristically not wanting to lock up or engage in the match’s early moments until he could lure the Grand Slam winner into position to snap the top rope into his neck and take over. The French Assassin worked over Mason's neck by battering it with European uppercuts and keeping him grounded by applying cravats. Batroc controlled the match and kept the pressure on, but lost the plot when he tried to connect on his signature guillotine legdrop and Savage rolled out of the way.
Razorblade pulled himself up with the ropes and waited on Serge, then blasted him with a King Kong lariat. It took Serge most of a ten count to pull himself off the mat and once he did Razorblade walloped him with an even bigger lariat that sent Serge spinning through the air before he crash landed on the mat. The rest of the match was mostly one way traffic for the former World champion, who down the stretch took Serge to the corner and put 20 knots on his head while the Quality Controllers counted along. Three spinebusters and the Soul Crusher flattened Serge out for the three count much to the joy of the crowd.
After the match, it looked like Windsor was going to launch a sneak attack, but Savage wheeled around at the last second and drove that thought out of Benedict Richard’s head with a glare. Richard instead gathered up Serge and helped him to the back, leaving Razorblade to grab a corner camera and cut a very short promo: “Too bad for Serge that he had to take Davis’ ass whooping. Commish, we need to have a word.” Savage handed the camera back over and left through the crowd as usual, ignoring all the claps he was getting on the back.
From there, we went TOTHEBACK~!, where Naomi Lee was standing by for an interview. She brought on Tre Boyd, who received a good pop from the Quality Controllers as he came into the frame. Boyd looked heated as he came on the set and proved it when he wouldn't even let Nao ask a question - instead he launched into his legitimate complaints about getting screwed out of the National championship at Cruel Summer. It was bad enough Nancy Crowley was a crazy witch, but now she was a paper champion on top of things. But she wouldn't be for long because she had violated the 11th commitment: thou shalt not play with the Gospel. Next time they’d throw down one on one and she could bring all the mall goths she wanted - but either way, we were about to be blessed with Championship Tre. Boyd walked off set, leaving us to return to the ring for tonight's semi main event clash…
5. Genesis King d. Anton Stahl (w/ the Wonderful Ward Brothers) at 4:51 A showcase win for the cocky King in our semi main event, who didn't waste much time in taking down the veteran Stahl. For some reason, Goody Gardner was at the top of the ramp for a portion of this one but left before King could end things with his trademark Crowned finisher. GK made sure us couch taters got a good look at all eight of his abs before heading to the back after his win.
A split screen showed Jane Doe and Cindy Monet warming up with the rest of Collipark while Summer Rose and “Sinister” Sarah Fowler skulked through the back corridors of Quality Arena with fog lightly billowing around their knees somehow. Our main event is Rose and Fowler vs. Science Fiction Double Feature - and it's going down after tonight's final commercial break!
Ahead of the main event, Steve hyped up just a taste of what's to come on 💫 next week's Ruckus 💫: “Explosive” Emily Bennett and “Cambodian Cool” Keo Tevi will face INTLTS 2.0 | Cindy Monet will go one on one with the returning Lolo Vuitton | and who will answer Nazir el-Fadal's open challenge as he marches towards Anniversary?
“Change (In the House of Flies)” rang out in Quality Arena, bringing Summer Rose and “Sinister” Sarah Fowler out to jeers from the crowd. As they made their way down to the ring, highlights of their dominant win on last week's Ruckus played on a picture in picture.
Rose & Fowler stood confidently in the middle of the ring and delivered thousand yard death glares to the hard camera, even as “Elevators (Me & You)” hit the PA and the crowd roared as stalwarts the College Park Family came out - the International Players and the legendary Jupiter Jones supporting their teammates Science Fiction Double Feature. A picture in picture promo from Cindy Monet and Jane Doe ran and they (well, Cindy) talked about how tonight was a must win they needed to get themselves back in the World Tag Team championships chase.
6. Summer Rose and “Sinister” Sarah Fowler d. Science Fiction Double Feature (w/Collipark) at 11:01 But SciFi’s title hopes took a hit as the Rose/Fowler duo notched the biggest win of their careers as a duo with this main event. Rose’s twisted tutelage of Fowler showed early on as her protegê was able to hold her own against the former World Tag Team champions in the feeling out portion of the bout. It was Summer who found herself behind the eight ball when SciFi started stringing together offense; a double hiptoss fed a double basement dropkick that set up back to back Penalty Kicks from the ladies of Collipark as the crowd cheered them on.
However, SFDF’s offensive run hit a wall moments later when Fowler hit the ring to break up a double suplex attempt, pulling Summer out of the setup. Sarah and Summer shoved SciFi into each other to cause a noggin knocker, then they both hit Cindy and Jane with electric chair facebusters. The referee coaxed Sarah into returning to the apron but with the opening created Summer was able to tag in Sarah, who immediately tossed Monet from the ring before laying Jane out with a straightjacket neckbreaker that got a two count.
While Jane mustered a kick out there, Sinister/Summer immediately went to work wearing her down and making her life hell. In fact, thanks to a couple of double teams and more than a couple of cheap shots Cindy never legally got back into the match as the black hats were at their piranha like best while halving the ring and making increasingly quick tags. The exhortations of Jupiter Jones and the crowd alike fell on deaf ears as a massive offensive display by former singles champion Summer on Jane in the closing two minutes shut the door on any chance of an offensive comeback - an avalanche poison rana set up the Lost In the Woods combo finisher with Summer pinning Jane while Sarah threw herself at Cincy to intercept her and make sure she couldn't break up the three count.
Rose and Fowler got their hands raised but just stared daggers at the hard camera…at least until “Hit A Moonshot” hit the PA, causing Summer and Sarah to roll their eyes almost in unison as Mean Season and the QCW World champion Autumn Powers parted the Qualitron and came out onto the ramp to the joy of the crowd. Winter Wonderland was the first to speak, congratulating them on an impressive victory. Gaia Green was next and with way more acidity in her voice, said that Summer and Sarah have been proving themselves to be a winning combination, and despite her misgivings – well, she’d let The Champ say her piece.
The crowd popped as Autumn brought the mic up to her lips and said that tonight's main event confirmed something she and Gaia had been thinking about since Summer spoke about it last week and she was right: Mean Season wasn't Mean Season without Summer Rose. If her protegê Sarah Fowler didn't mind curbing the worst of her excesses, then there was room for her as well. Imagine how they could dominate QCW for months and years to come, a newer, bigger, better Mean Season with the five of them standing tall.
But Autumn wasn't blind to how the past few months had gone since they’d both unmasked. So Summer and Sarah had a week to think about it - and next week they’d be face to face and set the direction of Mean Season’s future. And who knows? Maybe the band would end up getting back together after all. Autumn dropped the mic and “Hit A Moonshot” filtered back over the PA, leaving Summer and Sarah to look at each other, Jupiter Jones with pursed lips on the floor, and Autumn gesturing between herself, Gaia and Winter and back to Rose and Fowler in the ring. On the heels of that bombshell, Ruckus went off the air with the announcers buzzing about the fact that we might be seven days away from the reformation of the vaunted Mean Season.
