GRPL+ Presents QCW Ruckus [s3e15 • March 15, 2024]

Quality Arena | Parts Unknown, FL

Aired live on GRPL+ | March 15, 2024

Ruckus opened with a Golden Rule recap video package; stills of the International Players and the returning Witchfinder General celebrating their victories on the preshow gave way to short video clips of the following highlights from the main card:

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ The Wonderful Ward Brothers were the crowd favorites in Calgary but Savage Justice managed to retain the Unified World Tag Team titles; afterwards all four men shook hands πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Shelley LaVey successfully defending her newly won Crush championship against Fiona Fogg πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ The Match of the Night was probably the four corners elimination over the Women's World Championship: Luz Cruz and Lolo Vuitton teamed up to eliminate champion Karyn Tisch-Warren without Sohla Patel coming to her partner's aid - then Cruz pinning Vuitton later after her signature triple jump moonsault - but Patel rolled up Luz before grabbing the tights and putting her feet on the ropes to steal the belt which sure won't make things weird in International Lotus πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ The Culture fended off the Proper Villains and Fiona Fogg to retain the Ambassadors Trios championships πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Omar Littlefield issued a challenge to the locker room for anyone to try and take the GRPL+ World TV title from him; Il Postino crashed and burned, then Omar kept the challenge going - “Swamp Pride “ Ted Holland provided a tougher challenge but suffered Postino 's fate - as Omar kept the challenge going again it turned out Ashok Banjerjee answered it to make his debut and won over the Calgary crowd not to mention almost the belt before Omar got himself intentionally DQed to end his undefeated streak but keep the title πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ And “Dark Mirror” Beckett Carpenter calling the Unified World title match between Autumn Powers and Nazir el-Fadal down the middle before they didn't, accidentally (?) laying out Autumn with a chair after Naz spit in their face, then when Naz tried to use that to their advantage Mirror put him in Look Inward until he was out and then counting a three count on them both to end Golden Rule standing tall πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

The opening rolled the same as usual, the biggest change being that Sohla is now slotted in to the Cavalcade of Champions.  But when it quit rolling, we were at the QCW Control Center with Julius Duquesne III and Enya Face, who welcomed us to the 2024 Duquesne Classic.

Enya explained that once they were done setting things up and running them down, the ‘24 Duquesne would begin…and this would be the biggest Classic in QCW history.

JD3 took over from there, saying that for the first time ever 16 wrestlers would be involved, and for the first time ever they would be split into four blocks named for QCW legends.  Every match would come with a 20 minute time limit: wins were worth 5 points, time limit draws 2.  The four block winners would face off in two semifinals on the April 12th Ruckus with those winners facing off on the 19th to determine who would hold on to the cup named after his grandfather.

Julius continued, and talked about Tommy “King” Berger as not only a QCW legend, not only the man who had his grandfather's back but someone who loved QCW until his dying day that came too soon.  In his honor there is the Berger Block, who's wrestlers are 2022 Duquesne Classic winner Serge Batroc, former multiple time Crush champion Luz Cruz, former multiple time World champion Nazir el-Fadal and former multiple time Unified World Tag Team champion, Ashley “THEE Influencer” Szabo.  Cruz & Naz will face off later tonight.

Opposite that Berger Block is the Gunn Block, named for former sixties champion Ray “Rocket” Gunn.  The four wrestlers competing in this block are newcomer Ashok Banjerjee, last year's Duquesne Classic winner “Dark Mirror “ Beckett Carpenter, former multiple time World TV champion “These Hands” Roy Fade and the returning Witchfinder General.  Old rivals Dark Mirror & These Hands will renew hostilities in tonight’s main event.

Enya took over to do the other half of the Classic, starting with the Jones Block named for QCW icon “Sweet” Curtis Jones.   You might know of his son, Jupiter, who somehow ended up here.  Joining the former multiple time QCW champion and future Hall of Famer are former multiple timeUnified World Tag Team champion “Tiki God” Al Buffett, the GRPL+ World Television champion Omar Littlefield and Ambassadors Trios champion “Dashing” Pierce Moore.  Once Blockology is  over we'll see Buffett vs. Moore in another Game Changers/Culture war.

The last block is named for “Cowboy” Jack Powers, who dominated the seventies and eighties as a multiple time QCW champion.  Competing to win it are former Unified World Tag Team champion Pyotr Caviar, former multiple timeUnified World champion Mason “Razorblade” Savage, former multiple time Women's World champion Karyn Tisch-Warren…and her former partner, former multiple time Women's World champion Lolo Vuitton.   You’ll get to see Razorblade vs. the Notorious KTW later on in the show.

Enya & JD3  were together in the Center and hyped up the star studded field as well as the debut of the round robin element to the Classic giving us weeks of great matches.  JD3 threw in a quick “Go, Jupiter!” before throwing things to Duck Eko in the ring to introduce the opener…

1. “Tiki God” Al Buffett (w/Ashley “THEE Influencer” Szabo) v. “Dashing” Pierce Moore (w/the Culture) in a Jones block cycle 1 Duquesne Classic match

Between the Game Changers and the Culture, they have a quarter of the Duquesne field (more if you count GC emerita Dark Mirror), and with the Culture coming together in part to go after the GCs it made sense that the tourney would start with Al and Pierce picking up where their rivalry left off.

Moore came in even more cocky than usual after a successful Ambassadors Trios championships defense on Sunday but it was the Archduke of Aloha who got off to the hot start and sent the Californian flying around the ring with a series of armdrags.  Moore tried to bail out of the ring but Al spotted him and ran down the apron to hit him with a PK before following up with a cannonball that had the Arena rocking with chants of “Tiki God!”.

As it turned out, the rest of the match went predominantly in Al’s favor as well; Moore had problems stringing offense together and even cheating didn't bail out the Dashing one for long.  With Ashley THEE Influencer leading the cheering crowd, Al put the finishing touches on the fight by following up a pop up Codebreaker with his signature Inner Strength to get the first win of the Classic.

“Tiki God’ Al Buffett d. “Dashing” Pierce Moore in 1240; Buffett has 5 points

After replays, they showed the previously online exclusive footage from after Golden Rule of International Lotus, as the Women's World championship moved from Karyn Tisch-Warren to Sohla Patel.  Sohla was happy to have kept the title with their brand but offered up a terse “no comment” when asked about cheating to win the belt; Karyn said all the right things like she was reading a PR statement then offered up her own “no comment” when she got asked if she would try to win the title back and set a record by becoming a four-time champion.  However, the clip ended with them plugging their websites as usual and Sohla polishing up her newly won championship.

2. Mason”Razorblade” Savage (w/Justice Davis) v. Karyn Tisch-Warren (w/International Lotus) in a Ppwers bracket cycle 1 Duquesne Classic match

The second chunk of the show started off with more Duquesne action from two competitors who had drastically different nights at Golden Rule.   It looked like Savage's week of big wins would continue as he used his power advantage to gain the upper hand on Tisch-Warren.  Razorblade continued to press his advantage but overestimated how far ahead he was.

Tisch-Warren dodged his corner charge and left Mason to shoulder the ringpost, then got on the apron and ran down to deliver a shotgun dropkick that sent Razorblade’s head into the post as a follow up.  With Razorblade knocked for a loop, the notorious KTW charged and hit him with an STO backbreaker before following up with a cover that got her 2.

Karyn kept the advantage for a couple of minutes but Razorblade powered out of her attempt at the Circuit Breaker and a few beats later nearly sent her flying out of the ring with a Pounce (period).  Savage dominated the next couple of minutes, then put Karyn away with the Soul Crusher.

Mason “Razorblade” Savage d. Karyn Tisch-Warren in 10:09; Savage has 5 points

Razorblade got his hand raised and the announce put him over as a strong favorite to win the Classic.

From there we went TOTHEBACK~!, where JD3 was standing by to bring on his guest: the World Television champion, Omar Littlefield.  Omar's so big he kind of dwarfs JD3.   Littlefield congratulated JD3 on interviewing the man who was going to win the Duquesne and add the Cup to the TV title - and soon he’d give QCW a scar they couldn't recover from when he became Unified World champion.

JD3 asked him about getting intentionally DQed at the PPV, and Omar just glared at him until he started stuttering.  Omar held up his title and said that he didn't need to be undefeated, he needed to be champion.  And no newbie was going to walk in his place and take his belt.  Come Unleashed, he’d make the mighty Jupiter Jones the latest person he planted into the mat, and the title would remain his until he decided to give it up.  And until then…well, let the list of victims grow.  Omar stomped off the set and JD3 threw it to Duck Eko for the next match.

3. Shelley LaVey [c, w/the Culture] v. Jane Doe (w/Cindy Monet) for the Crush championship

QCW Rewind reminded us before the match that Shelley won the belt on last week's show through brilliance, chicanery or both then successfully defended it at Golden Rule.  LaVey again showed her craftiness by flooring Jane with a John Woo dropkick right after the bell rang and didn't let Doe get out from under.   Shelley kept the pressure on and went for her stablemate’s Fresh To Death cutter but Jane put a stop to that by countering with a release German suplex.

Jane put together a few moves and seemed to have LaVey on the back foot, bailing out of the ring.  When Jane chased her to the apron, Shelley went for another Fresh To Death and got it to send Jane crashing into the hardest point of the ring.  LaVey got Jane back in the ring and hit the Fallen Angel splash to retain her title.

Shelley LaVey d. Jane Doe in at 9:49 to retain the Crush championship 2️⃣

After replays, Shelley slapped Jane around a couple of times until Jane’s partner, former Crush and Women's World champion Cindy Monet ran Shelley off with a chair.

As Hour 1 came to a close, Cindy was daring Shelley to try that crap with her while Shelley held up both the Crush championship as well as her share of the Ambassadors Trios championships & bragged that she was the kind of double champion Cindy couldn't even dream of touching on her best day.

We came back to Enya Face, who wasn't teleporting but welcoming her guest at this time - “Dark Mirror * Beckett Carpenter.  QCW’s most notorious firebrand walked on set to a loud and mixed (but mostly positive) reaction.   Enya wasted little time in asking Carpenter why they laid out both halves of the main event at Golden Rule when they were the special guest referee.

Carpenter - perhaps tongue all the way in cheek - said that they provided a necessary help given the evenness of the matchup, so it was only fair & dare they say right down the middle to end the match the way they chose to.  Fans, stans and haters would all have their opinions but they stood here proud of the job that they did.  And if Autumn and/or Naz had a problem with that, they weren't hard to find.

In fact, they could find them in the main event tonight when they began their quest to defend the Duquesne Cup and beat Roy Fade once again.  Fade has done well for himself: his own bootleg Game Changers, technically an Ambassador of QCW and above average theme music.  But he didn't know what it took to win the Duquesne, and as they took handling things in the main event of the PPV on themselves they would handle Roy in tonight's main event themselves.  It would only be a matter of time before they made These Hands Look Inward.  Beckett clapped Enya on the back and left to get ready for the main; Enya threw things to Duck for the next fight.

4. Ian Cook & Gerry Greene v. The International Players

The Catch Hell alumni acquitted themselves well, using Cook’s power to their advantage and got the upper hand but they couldn't maintain it.  Lucius Patton and Benjamin Valentino not only cleared them from the ring but hit a series of four topes to wipe out both Brits twice.  That gave the Players momentum that they wouldn't lose for the rest of the match, eventually putting away the larger Cook with a catapult/guillotine leg drop combination.

The International Players d. Ian Cook and Gerry Greene in 8’06

Post replays, we saw the Players celebrating in ring and a cut to the back showed Jupiter Jones and Science Fiction Double Feature clapping for their Collipark comrades.

From there we got more previously Online Exclusive footage from after Golden Rule, this time with Ashok Banjerjee who made his debut at the show.  Ashok thanked Calgary for the warm reception but was pissed that the big, bad Omar Littlefield had to get himself intentionally DQed to save the World TV title.

He said he would love a rematch where Omar actually defended his title without any BS, but his coming priority is showing QCW just like he showed Calgary who he is and what he's about in the Duquesne Classic.  Winning that would guarantee at least a shot at Omar, and maybe more, so he was going to be even more Boundless than usual to secure the Cup.

5. “La Flor” Luz Cruz v. Nazir el-Fadal in a Berger bracket cycle 1 Duquesne Classic match

Both Luz and Naz came into their first ever match against each other in salty moods, both having gone for the 2 major singles titles on Sunday and gotten screwed out of them; obviously they wanted to use the Duquesne as a springboard to future title shots as well as having a king sized bullet point on their resumes.

The opening minutes were a coin flip with both competitors trading hard strikes, but neither got an advantage until Naz cracked Luz with a stiff back elbow before following up with a nasty Saito suplex.  On commentary, Carl noted that he was relatively new to the modern era of QCW but even he knew there were few things more dangerous than Naz when he had the upper hand.

el-Fadal wrestled the next few minutes as if he’d heard Christensen, peppering Cruz with big European uppercuts.  Luz managed to put together a brief rally that Naz snuffed out with a buckle bomb version of the Outsider's Edge.

Cruz kicked out at 2 ¾, but the upper hand had been established.  Naz was winning the match, but he couldn't win the match - not after another Saito suplex dumped Cruz on her head, not after he put her in a cobra clutch and added a Lungblower, and not even after he hiptossed her into a Michinoku Driver.   Naz went for Nazquil but Luz countered by pivoting and dropping him with a DDT.

el-Fadal got to his feet first but walked into a jawbreaker.  The former World champion was staggered but it was Luz's follow up leg lariat that put him on his ass.   Naz rolled out to the floor but Cruz followed him out and further tilted the scales in her favor with a Orihara moonsault that wiped Naz out and popped the crowd.

Luz got to her feet first and rolled Naz into the ring before opening up her offense on Naz.  With the clock coming into play down the stretch, Cruz threw her arsenal at Naz but in a reversal from earlier it was el-Fadal who pulled off multiple kickouts and frustrated Luz.  With a few seconds left Cruz planted Naz with a rewind rana and hit her triple jump moonsault, but the bell rang before she could cover the fallen Naz, sooooo…

Luz Cruz & Nazir el-Fadal fought to a 20 minute time limit draw; both earned 2 points

Before we hit the main event, Steve and Carl hyped up the next week of QCW TV chock full of more action in the Duquesne Classic.

Unleashed will complete cycle 1 in the Classic with Ashley THEE Influencer vs. Serge Batroc, Lolo Vuitton vs. Pyotr Caviar, Ashok Banjerjee vs. the Witchfinder General and not only a cycle 1 match but a defense of the World TV title as Omar Littlefield goes up against the legendary Triple Crown holder Jupiter Jones.

RUCKUS will kick off cycle 2 with the following matches: Ashley THEE Influencer vs. “La Flor”  Luz Cruz, Ashok Banjerjee vs. “These Hands” Roy Fade, “Dark Mirror “ Beckett Carpenter vs. the Witchfinder General and Razorblade against Lolo Vuitton; in addition to that, an all star trios match with Nazir el-Fadal and International Lotus facing off against Autumn Powers and Mean Season.  That card’s more loaded than me on my birthday.

Before we get to all that Classic action next week, we’ve got one more right now in tonight's main event:

6. “Dark Mirror” Beckett Carpenter v. “These Hands” Roy Fade (w/the Culture) in a Gunn bracket cycle 1 Duquesne Classic match

The show began with a Culture vs. Game Changers match in the Classic and would end with a different member of the Culture facing the cofounder of the Changers to kick off the Gunn block.

As Fade come out, stills of he and the rest of the Culture retaining the Ambassadors Trios championships at Golden Rule rolled…and we all know what Mirror did at the PPV.   Fade took down Mirror a few times and posed to boss from the Controllers and cheers of his running buddies.

As Fade continued to show off the upper hand early, a buzz grew in the crowd and then turned into a pop as the Game Changers arrived on the scene to neutralize Pierce Moore and Shelley LaVey on the floor.

Fade tried to no sell their arrival and went for a superplex, but Carpenter fended him off before showing him crotch first onto the top rope.  A higher pitched Fade soon found himself on the business end of an Inner Strength from Carpenter, who built upon those moves to muster a rally.

Using a combination of their usual offense and a few moves cribbed from their Game Changers brethren, Dark Mirror soon had things tipped in their favor.   Moore did save the match for his partner by putting Fade’s foot on the ropes during a Mirror nearfall out of the referee's eyeline - but that quickly led to a Pier 4 with Al and Ashley against Pierce and Shelley and all four of them brawling either through the concourse or up the ramp.

Roy complaining to the ref about his friends getting jumped came to a sudden stop as the crafty Carpenter chop blocked him from behind.  Fade staggered to his knees only to get pummelled by 20-30 seconds of Mirror hammer and anvil elbows; Look Inward followed that up and you got a sense Roy was almost grateful to tap out

“Dark Mirror” Beckett Carpenter ds. These Hands Roy Fade in 13:12;  Carpenter has 5 points

We didn't get the full slate of replays.  A cut back to the ring in live time showed Naz pulling a celebrating Mirror off the turnbuckles and planting them with an Outsider’s Edge.  el-Fadal mocked the booing crowd before barking at Beckett to get up.  Once they did, Naz cinched them up and planted them with Nazquil but the Quality Controllers cheering loudly raised Naz's eyebrows.  He turned around and got wiped out by a Hazy Shade of Autumn.

The Champ smacktalked the fallen Naz while the Arena chanted her name.  Powers finished putting the bad mouth on Naz and started to leave the ring when they saw Carpenter starting to pull themselves up off of the mat.

Autumn smiled thinly before getting a running start and wiping out Dark Mirror as well to a loud (but mostly positive) response.  Autumn looked around the ring standing over the bodies she dropped before she headed out of the ring and slapped a few fans’ hands on the way to the back.

Ms. Powers just reminded the world of one very crucial detail: The Champ is still The Champ.

GRPL+ Presents QCW Ruckus [s3e14 • March 8, 2024]

Rogers Theater | Vancouver, British Columbiaa

Aired live on GRPL+ | March 8, 2024

Show opened with a THANK YOU, STING graphic in a classy touch by QCW before the standard open and intros from Steve and Carl…

1.. Team Batroc, Even O'Neill & “Upper Class” Broderick Palmer II d. Savage Justice & the Wonderful Ward Brothers in 12:03  Despite being opponents on the Golden Rule preshow in a fatal four way tag, the black hats got along better than Savage Justice and the Wards.  Pyotr Caviar wrecked shop on the babyfaces but it was Evan O'Neill who blind tagged himself in and stole a pin on Justice Davis while the Wards let it happen.

After the match, Jason the Great got on the stick to say that Savage Justice was going to lose again on Sunday, except that once that happened the belts would go back to a real tag team and all of Canada would rejoice when they regained the titles.  Mixed reaction but mostly good from the Vancouver crowd!; unreadable reactions from their ex teammates Team Batroc on the ramp.

2. Crusazdo del Oro ddq. Super AviΓ³n in 10:23 Last week AviΓ³n turned on Oro after they lost another tag match (ironically enough against he Wonderful Wards) to get us to this lucha on lucha violence.  Oro came out with a hot start but missed a tope and went flying into the barrier.  AviΓ³n picked Oro apart after that, and even beating on Oro failed to stop AviΓ³n from being satisfied.  The former World Tag champion even pulled up Oro at a two count, and eventually the referee intervened on Oro’s behalf.  AviΓ³n shoved the ref aside to do more damage and drew a DQ for it.  It didn't stop AviΓ³n from grabbing a chair and dropping Oro with a chair shot and getting in a few more to the back of the laid out Oro.  Other referees came out to disarm AviΓ³n, who stomped off to the back after shoving the camera out of the way.

A video package played, hyping the return of the Duquesne Classic - and this year's will be the biggest ever with 16 wrestlers chopped up into a four block round robin before the semifinals and finals.  Two years ago Serge Batroc won the Classic; last year Dark Mirror took the honors.  Who will join the halloweed ranks of Duquesne Cup holders this year?

3. Lolo Vuitton (w/Luz Cruz) d. Karyn Tisch-Warren (w/International Lotus) in a non-title match in13:38 It turns out when ex partners fight, they fight.  Karyn got the upper hand in the opening minutes, throwing an STO backbreaker at Vuitton to stop her.  KTW laid it in on her former partner, perhaps trying to knock her former running buddy out of contendership once and for all after Lolo nearly upended her for the title a few weeks ago.  Lolo would start to upend her here after using an attempted Patel distraction to send Tisch-Warren into Patel to knock her off of the apron then powerbombed Karyn to the floor with rest of Lotus barely catching their figurehead.  Karyn was up in a couple of beats just in time to eat a Lolo tope con hilo, and Vuitton kept the momentum from there.  She got a little help from Cruz on the outside, who laid out both Patel and Scott Warren-Tisch with her Crush championship.  Vuitton fended off Karyn's offense and eventually drilled her with two Bloody Shoes to get the win, a bit of retribution after she almost lifted the belt off of Karyn when she came back a few weeks ago.

That brought an end to the first hour of the show.

It turned out that During the Break, the heels in the 10 person tag main event (Ambassadors Trios champions the Culture, the G+ World TV champ Omar Littlefield and Nazir el-Fadal) were skulking the hallways, with el-Fadal saying that they should just walk into Autumn and Mean Season’s dressing room and take them out before they could get started.

Littlefield said bet and shoved Naz aside before speed walking down the hall and ripping the door off the hinges.  Autumn, Gaia Green and Winter Wonderland barely had time to register their shock before Littlefield started throwing hands and el-Fadal then the Culture weren't far behind.  The heels started pushing their advantage only to start getting peeled off by the Proper Villains, the partners of Autumn and Mean Season'’s team in the main event.  Shelley LaVey quickly bowed out of the scene as referees, Quality Force security and - in a little bit of a surprise - “Dark Mirror” Beckett Carpenter with a chair - arrived on the scene to break up the fight, because we're saving that for later. Of note, Carpenter used the chair as a wedge to separate Autumn and Naz ahead of the security getting there.

4. Shelley LaVey d. “La Flor Luz Cruz [c] and Fiona Fogg in a triple threat match to win the Crush championship at 8:13 QCW Rewind showed us Fogg and LaVey going to a time limit draw on Unlimited in the latest chapter of their Wednesday night warring.  The faces went after LaVey early, but when they both went for the pin that ended their temporary alliance and they went at each other.   Shelley let them go at each other, then picked off Cruz after the champ finally put Fogg at bay for a bit.   In the end, Fogg and LaVey briefly teamed up to take out Cruz and sent the luchadora out of the ring.   Fiona and Shelley continued throwing hands in the ring - but on the floor behind the referee’s back, both members of International Lotus snuck out from under the ring and took out Cruz.  Karyn suplexed Luz into the barricade before passing Luz to Patel for a Ninth Incarnation on the floor.  Fogg won her war against LaVey, who rolled out of the ring after eating Fiona’s signature the Unspeakable.  Fogg rolled LaVey and then Cruz into the ring before waiting to see who'd get up first.  Once Luz did, Fogg laid her out with the Unspeakable.  Fogg muscled over Luz and went for the pin only for it to be broken up by a Fallen Angel splash off the top by LaVey at 2 ½.  LaVey snatched up Fogg and tossed her to the outside before pinning Cruz for the win to become a double champion.

Beauty and the Beast Mode came out to celebrate with their partner in the Culture and put her on their shoulders while the crowd booed, Fogg fumed, and saddest of all a disoriented Cruz had to be told that she:d just lost her now former title.

The live shot of the Crush championship fallout dissolved into a sepia tone over which the same word flashing over and over: REPENT.  This ended up going on for half a minute before we hit the last big commercial break of the evening.

5. Goody Gardner d. “Explosive” Emily Bennett in 5:31 Gardner made her QCW debut here dressed in what appeared to be a Pilgrim outfit.  She shook hands with the referee prematch but she went ballistic on poor Emily during the match..  Gardner dominated the showcase and eventually dusted off Miss Explosive with a snap swinging fisherman's buster.  Gardner also shook the referee's hand after getting her hand raised.

Commissioner Holmes interrupted the guys at the desk to say that he had an addition to the Golden Rule card that they were about to go over.  The Women's World championship.match was going to be a four corners elimination match where Karyn Tisch-Warren would defend the belt against Luz Cruz, Sohla Patel and Lolo Vuitton.  Whoever survived that would be the champion and damn sure would earn it.

That late addition joins a ridiculously stacked Golden Rule card that will feature every single QCW title on the line from Calgary…

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦the Culture will defend the Ambassadors Trios championships against the ex champs the Proper Villains and a partner of their choosing πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Speaking of the Culture, their Shelley LaVey will be pulling double duty as she'll defend the Crush championship against her longtime rival Fiona Fogg πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ The undefeated and monstrous Omar Littlefield has issued an open challenge for the GRPL+ World TV title; good luck with that, whoever answers that call πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ With the Unified World Tag Team championships on the line, the former champions and proud Canadian the Wonderful Ward Brothers will face the belt holders, Savage Justice in a fight that could steal the show πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ And of course, the top of the marquee; the Final Woman vs. the Final Boss, a man looking to be The Champ again vs. the women who is: Autumn Powers will defend the Unified World championship against Nazir el-Fadal…and “Dark Mirror” Beckett Carpenter  has been tabbed as special guest referee.  Will Mirror call it down the middle?  Will Naz find a way to retake the top of QCW’s mountain?  Will Autumn find a way to hold onto the Fifteen Pounds of Gold?  Who really runs QCW? πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

And then, it was time for the first match of the weekend to feature Beckett Carpenter as the special guest referee…

6. Nazir el-Fadal, Omar Littlefield and the Culture d. Autumn Powers, Mean Season and the Proper Villains in 15:32 “Dark Mirror” Beckett Carpenter served as the special guest referee The last match before Golden Rule featured a bunch of rivalries and champions all bubbling over.  The black hats wisely let Omar set up shop and dared the babyfaces to find a way to buckle G+ World Television champion; neither of the Villains could do it, and neither could Gaia Green.  Gaia tagged in Autumn but before any champion v. champion violence could go down Naz ran in and blindsided Autumn, having blind tagged himself into the bout.  Naz worked Autumn over for the next couple of minutes, occasionally smack talking both Powers and Carpenter.  The Champ got out from under and it looked like she was going for the Hazy Shade, but a Littlefield cheap shot rocked her and Naz added injury to injury by hip tossing her into a Michinoku Driver.  Naz called for the end and went for his Nazquil but Autumn spun through and laid out el-Fadal with a DDT.  Autumn managed to tag out to Gaia, who lit up Naz for a couple minutes before getting blindsided by an illegal Fresh To Death from “Dashing “Pierce Moore.  That drew the Proper Villains, then the  rest of the Culture, and soon there was a Pier 8 going on in and then outside the ring.  el-Fadal and Green backed into each other, then Naz planted Gaia with Nazquil.  Carpenter got down for the cover and after a slight hesitation, made the three count.

Naz made sure Mirror specifically raised his hand after replays, then started teeing off on a helpless Green.  el-Fadal even sent Autumn to the outside before going back to work over Gaia, something that might have continued on had Mirror not intervened.

As The Champ angrily snatched up a chair from the ringside area, Carpenter grabbed Naz by the back of his head before putting Look Inward on the Final Boss to the pop of the night.  el-Fadal struggled in the Dragon Clutch before eventually talking to the submission, and Carpenter definitely took a couple extra seconds to release the hold after he did.  Poeers slid into the ring and cocked the chair back but Carpenter surprisingly blocked her attempt to splatter Naz.  The credits box came up as Carpenter and Powers went forehead to forehead over a coughing el-Fadal, both clearly not whispering sweet nothings to the other.

GRPL+ Presents QCW Ruckus [s3e13 • March 1, 2024]

Bridgestone Arena | Nashville, TN

Aired live on GRPL+ | March 1, 2024

Tonight's show opened with graphics commemorating the passings of Ole Anderson and Mike  "Virgil" Jones.

Ruckus began with a pretape from the Commissioner's office.  Sitting atop the front of his desk, Scott Holmes welcomed us to Ruckus before addressing the end of last week's show and Pick Your Poison.  After exhaustive review of the footage, he determined that Nazir el-Fadal and Autumn Powers did in fact tie in their times, and as a result neither of them would pick a stipulation for the Unified World championship match come next Sunday at Golden Rule.

But he would.

The only way to make the Final Woman vs. the Final Boss even bigger would be the addition of a special guest referee - someone who knew both Autumn and Naz very well and could be relied on to to call things right down the middle.  It was his honor to name the special guest referee for Autumn/Naz:

The returning “Dark Mirror” Beckett Carpenter.

You could hear me shock and the cheers from the Quality Controllers even if you couldn't see them yet, and in the pretape Holmes thanked everybody for their time and asked us to enjoy the show.

After the opening stinger rolled we took a trip to Nashville, full of screaming fans.  From a humming Bridgestone Arena Steve Vandeblanche and Carl Christensen are your commentators, Duck Eko is your ring announcer.

Among what you can expect on the show tonight, two former champions try to regain their old belts tonight : “Superfine” Reggie Strong ffaces Omar Littlefield for the GRPL+  World TV title and in the main event Luz Cruz tries to hit 10 and defend the Crush championship against Sohla Patel from International Lotus.  But the night would begin with tag team action.

1.. Crusazdo del Oro and Super AviΓ³n v. The Wonderful Ward Brothers

Last week, Savage Justice (well, Justice Davis) called out the brothers Ward for their tossing the End Times off of the stage a few weeks ago.  This week, the Wards brought a harder edge to their usual proceedings and made relatively short work of the luchadors.  Team Batroc watched from one of the new skyboxes while Crusazdo del Oro went down to a Cutting Express at the hands of the former tag champs.

The Wonderful Ward Brothers d. Crusazdo del Oro in 6:38

After replays months of frustration came to a head when AviΓ³n helped his partner to his feet before nearly clotheslining him out of his boots.  AviΓ³n continued to stomp away on his former partner and threw him into the ropes before tying him up with them.  Of note, both Jason the Great and Rich looked on; they weren't hurting but they weren't helping either.

“Unscripted Violence” hit the PA and out came Savage Justice.  The Unified World Tag Team championships made a beeline to the ring, causing AviΓ³n not only to flee the ring but head out through the concourse.  The feel good moment was surprisingly broken up by Rich, who had Duck’s mic and said that until Savage Justice had something to say about he and his brother getting a shot at their belts some punk rookie should keep their names out of his mouth, and Razorblade damn sure shouldn't be encouraging him when he does.

That was all he had to say, but it clearly had an affect on the former World champion as “We Made It” hit the PA as the Wards left, leaving the Unified Tag champs looking pissed in the ring.  Carl, Iin his way, pointed out that Team Batroc lost their titles shot last week and that they and the Wards used to be teammates.  Hmmm…

2. The Game Changers v. Evan O'Neill and “Upper Class” Broderick Palmer II

Sort of a proving ground match here, as the cocky newcomers in O’Neill and Palmer II took on forever champions the Game Changers, with announce pushing that the winners would certainly be looking for a shot at Savage Justice sooner rather than later.

Palmer II has no answers for the Tiki God’s strength early, so he used the referee as a shield before thumbing Buffett in the eye and throwing him shoulder first into the ring post.  Opening created, he tagged in O’Neill and the black hats went to work.

They took over the next few minutes and seemed to be headed towards victory, but O’Neill whiffed on a senton elbow drop and Al managed to shake free of BP2 and tag in Ashley THEE Influencer.  The Beverly Hills bombshell wasted little time lighting up her opponents, even hitting a bulldog/lariat combo on both men that lit up the crowd.

Szabo got on a roll of her own and hit Broderick with a Codebreaker ahead of her Smash That Subscribe Button top rope fist drop, but before she could get the three count O’Neill was in for the save.  All four competitors started going at each other until BP2 tossed Ashley into Al.  Al stopped Ashley from falling, but it left him open to a Hi/Lo combination that made him inadvertently DDT Ashley.  O’Neill took advantage and tossed a limp Al out of the ring before Palmer II drilled Ashley with an Unprettier.  Broderick tagged in Evan, who hit the senton elbow this time, and a three count later the rookies had pulled out an upset over the former two time champs.

Al recovered and checked on Ashley in the ring while Evan and Broderick made sure the referee raised their hands on the ramp.  Announce put over their increasing cohesiveness as a team before action rolled on from Quality Arena.

3. Shelley LaVey v. Lolo Vuitton

As Shelley came out, QCW Rewind threw us back to last week where Shelley laid out Lolo after Vuitton almost beat Autumn Powers in a non-title miatch.  Shelley cursed out Lolo fo blowing her shot and promised to get after her tonight.

However,, Lolo got her back by jumping her from behind when she was making her entrance.  The bell rang but that didn't stop Lolo from sending LaVey into the steps three times.  Vuitton got Shelley in the ring and threw her into a corner to go mudhole stomping.  Lolo followed up with a facewash, LaVey bailed out while Lolo let out a war cry as the Quality Controllers popped.

But Lolo’s lead turned out to be short lived, as once she got back in the ring Shelley dropped her with a STO.  LaVey continued putting together offense against the multiple time former Women’s World champion and even laid out Vuitton with a fresh looking cutter. Shelley went to the high rent district and flew off with a top rope splash, but Lolo rolled away from it and left Shelley to get splattered on the mat.  A dizzy LaVey got her chin checked by a Bloody Shoe shortly thereafter and Lolo pinned her.

Lolo Vuitton d. Shelley LaVey in 10:03

Lolo celebrated her way up the aisle until the commercial break.

Hour 2 began with breaking news delivered by Steve, who set up a video package that featured new footage of the Quality Arena fire.  While the fire damaged a lot of the footage they were able to find a suspect walking away from the scene in something resembling a Pilgrim outfit.  However, there's yet to be a positive ID because they were wearing a very wide brimmed black hat.  Steve asked us to check on QCW’s site if any further updates came up in the case.

From the announce TOTHEBACK~!, where Julius Duquesne III had a very special guest – “Dark Mirror” Beckett Carpenter.  Mirror walked onto the set with a small grin before making a small bow towards JD3. Julius asked them if they could truly be impartial given their history with the two competitors in the main event at Golden Rule.  Carpenter thought about it for a couple beats before responding:

“Julius, that is a brilliant question.  Anyone who accused you of being just a nepo baby doesn't know what they're talking about.:

It's true that my relationship with Autumn is…complex.  We're bitter rivals and will always be in some sort of cold war.

It's also true that Naz and I hate one another.  Actually, despise might be a better term - but that is precisely why I would be the only one to call it down the middle.  After all, there are some very small minded refs out there who believe that the Unified World championship should remain around the waist of cis men and resent Autumn for daring to hold that belt.

But there are many other refs who hate the guy who's put them in harm’s way to ensure that the title remains within his avaricious clutches.  So when it comes to the right person to call such a momentous title match right down the middle…

…why, I would be the fairest of all.  In fact, I’m genuinely hoping that the best competitor wins at Golden Rule, because I would be honored to relive either one of them of the burden of carrying the Fifteen Pounds of Gold.  But until that happens, I will do everything in my power to make sure that the playing field remains even.  Now if you’ll excuse me, I have referee stripes to get fitted for.  Thanks, Jules.”.

JD3 thanked them back in kind before throwing things back to ringside for the next match.

4. “These Hands” Roy Fade (w/the Culture) v. “The Fury” Jim Jaspers (w/”the Proper King” Richard Windsor)

Considering the long running history between them and their backgrounds, no one was surprised to find that this turned out to be a hard hitting, stiff affair.  Fade countered Fury Road with a familiar looking cutter and went for the Decision, but sent his knee strike into the turnbuckles as Jaspers moved out of its path at the last minute.  A limping Fade walked right into Fury Road, but the shift in crowd noise got Old Jim’s attention, and for good reason –

–Prince Ootsuka leapt over the barricade and sent Richard Windsor into the ring post before following up with some rabbit punches.  A furious Jaspers slid out of the ring and chased off the Prince, then checked on his now bleeding tag team partner.  Jaspers spent most of the ref's count checking on his partner but slid in at 9…just in time to check the Decision with his jaw and get pinned by Fade.

“These Hands Roy Fade d. “The Fury” Jim Jaspers at 8:31

The Culture made sure to smack talk the fallen Proper Villains and show off their Ambassadors Trios championships on their way to the back.

We went from that to “Superfine” Reggie Strong putting on his signature robe in his dressing room, followed by a shot of Omar Littlefield destroying a heavy bag somewhere else backstage – the World TV title rematch was going down next…

5. Omar Littlefield [c] v. “Superfine” Reggie Strong for the GRPL+ World Television championship

In the middle of January Littlefield won a three way dance to win the World TV title; Strong exercises his rematch clause and was out not only for revenge but to regain his old belt

The opening couple of minutes saw Reggie throw a series of flurries at Littlefield, who was uncharacteristically out on the back foot by the assault.  But Reggie couldn't power Omar up and over the way he hoped to do, and Omar's response was a reverse chokeslam.

What was left on the match was one way traffic for Littlefield, who put on a borderline showcase and still shocked the fans by dismantling another former TV champ.  Reggie had no answers for Omar's perfect storm of offense and eventually went under after eating FIVE Vader Bombs and the Face Eraser.  The bell rang and people seemed to be talmost oo scared to boo.

It was that quiet.

Omar Littlefield d. “Superfine” Reggie Strong at 6:05 to retain the GRPL+ World Television championship 6️⃣

Announce put over Littlefield and his continued path of undefeated destruction before hyping up the last stops on the way to Golden Rule next week –

Unleashed live from Boulder, CO will have Mr. Teknik and the Wonderful Ward Brothers face off against Team Batroc & Jacques Krieger; in addition, the main event will see Autumn Powers face off against the Culture’s “These Hands” Roy Fade in a non-title match.

The last Ruckus before Golden Rule willbe packed: Vancouver, British Columbiaa will host Karyn Tisch-Warren vs. Lolo Vuitton in a non-title match, a defense of the Crush championship, and aPPV worthy main event.

It's a 10 person tag - one side is loaded with the Ambassadors Trios champions the Culture, the GRPL+ World TV champion Omar Littlefield and Nazir el-Fadal.

Their opponents?  The Proper Villains, Mean Season, and the Final Woman who holds the Fifteen Pounds of Gold, Autumn Powers.

And if that wasn't enough, the special guest referee will be “Dark Mirror” Beckett Carpenter.  So you want to make sure you don't miss a minute of Ruckus next week live from Vancouver.

Hey, how would you like a high stakes main event?  A video package set it up: everything from Sohla Patel bullying Luz Cruz last year and sending her from the promotion to Cruz disguising herself as a luchadora to take the Crush championship from Patel a few months ago to kick off this title reign.  A win for Cruz tonight means she can cash in on Patel's partner Karyn Tisch-Warren for a shot at the Women's World championship whenever and wherever she feels like it.

6.  “La Flor” Luz Cruz [c] (w/Lolo Vuitton) v. Sohla Patel (w/International Lotus) for the Crush championship

Match LSL

After the fancy introductions we're out of the way Luz and Sohla didn't waste a second before throwing hands to the joy of the crowd.  Luz won the brawl after a couple of minutes and cleared Sohla from the ring; Patel gathered herself and got back in only for a Cruz dropkick to send her up and over the top rope to the floor again where she threw a tantrum.

Said tantrum gave Tisch-Warren an opening to slide in the ring and lay out Cruz with a belt shot from the Women's World championship – Patel was suddenly all smiles and slid in the ring for a cover but Cruz kicked out at 2.

Lolo complained to the red and threatened to come after her ex partner Karyn but it didn't stop a “revitalized” Patel from running her playbook as well as she could over the next few minutes.  Luz survived half a dozen nearfalls before a livid Sohla slapped her down to the mat, said she was going to make Cruz regret ever coming back, and called for the end.

Patel went to put a button on things with her Ninth Incarnation but Cruz reversed into a DDT that spiked her on her head.  An out of it Patel rolled over twice and ended up on the floor, so the ref began making her count.  Karyn snuck back in the ring but Lolo alerted the ref, who busted Tisch-Warren with the belt in the ring and ejected her and her husband to a loud pop from the Quality Controllers.  Cruz waved a sarcastic goodbye to Karyn as she got escorted to the back by other referees; Patel snuck into the ring and rolled up Cruz for 2 ½.

When both women got up, Luz surprised Sohla with a satellite DDT that folded up Patel like a K/3 off suit.  Cruz pulled herself off the mat before showing why she was the most decorated Crush in history by taking over the match and repeatedly introducing the Bollywood Diva to the mat.  Even cheating didn't work for Patel, who late in the time limit rolled up Cruz and not only grabbed a handful of tights but put her feet on the middle rope as well; fortunately for everything decent, the ref caught her before 3 and waved the pin attempt off.

Patel complained to the ref, leaving herself open to a rewind rana from the champ that set up her signature triple jump moonsault  – Patel's shoulders didn't come up off the mat after that.

Luz Cruz d. Sohla Patel at 13:58 to retain the Crush championship ✨πŸ”Ÿ✨

It wasn't until replays fired off that we at home saw that Patel had gotten her foot under the bottom rope after 2, but Lolo knocked it back into the ring at 3 and the ref had missed the whole thing.

Regardless, orange pyro shot off on the stage and a chyron said that Luz had made it down the Road to 10 (cash-in capabilities: activated).  Cruz grabbed the mic from Duck while hoisting the belt up on her shoulder and smiling at the crowd’s “You deserve it!” chants.

Luz began to thank the crowd before Lolo grabbed the mic to ripples of confusion from the Quality Controllers.  Vuitton said who Luz should be thanking was her, and Cruz asked what she meant by that.  Lolo mentioned the times Lotus had screwed her over in the recent post from getting the Women's World championship as well as having Luz’s back tonight and helping her make history - but that didn't do anything to help her be a champion again.  Her help meant that Luz owed her, and maybe not just in her own effects for her old belt…maybe she should beat Luz to take the Crush championship juuuust for a little insurance, too

Luz got in Lolo's face, saying she could and has beaten Sohla without Lolo's help before she came back.  The difference between them was that when she came back, she was winning titles and all Lolo was doing since coming back was coming close.   If Lolo wanted to fight her and Lotus and the division, that was on her.  But if she came for Luz's title or ruined her opportunity to get the Women's World championship?  Things were going to get real hood real fast.

Cruz slapped the mic out of Vuitton's hand and stared her down only for Vuitton to slap her mic out of her hand and stare her down.   They went forehead to forehead as the show closed, completely missing International Lotus snickering at them from the top of the ramp.
